Nextel Cup, 14 April 07

I jumped into the Nextel Cup NASCAR race on April 14th, 2007. I am not at all a NASCAR fan but I stuck around after to take advantage of our special access passes hoping to get some pictures for Aaron and Tory. I heard someone is a Jeff Gordon fan....

Yes, that is #24 whizzing past me in that first picture below. We had to make 6 attempts before we managed to get one with the car in the background because it was zooming past so fast. I also got some video but I am having issues uploading that....

I had stage front access during the pre-race awards. Jeff got a few awards for his prior performances. One of them was this...uh...rifle. For something. I dunno what.

The starting line. Jeff is seeded #1, and it was so crowded around his car that I couldn't get close. You can see the Army car, though...;)

Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold announced the top ten seeded drivers. He's a WWF wrestler, for those of you who don't know (Dad!?)

Army Strong

Even though the Army car was in the top ten, its pit area was way in the back and so there weren't a lot of people. This is me with a few random Army pit crew guys. They were really nice. Yes, I had pit access. It was cool to see the piles and piles of tires and the fuel tanks and everything.
